چکیده

The effects of an intermittent and prolonged dietary restriction on biochemical variables and histological small intestinal patterns in 12-month-old male eSMT rats are examined. These spontaneously diabetic animals were separated in two groups after weaning: 10 rats fed ad libitum with standard rat chow and 10 rats fed a restricted diet by deprivation of the same food for 24 hours every 72. At 12 months of age, animals were weighed and euthanized after tail vein bleeding for plasma analysis (glycemiaboth fasting and 120 minutes after an oral glucose challenge-, triglyceridemia and total cholesterolemia). Small intestines were removed, weighed and measured in length.

Histological and Histochemical Study of Large and Small Intestine of Hydrophis cyanocinctus in Minab Beaches

The aim of the current study was to investigate the histological and histochemical characteristics of large and small intestines of sea snake, Hydrophis cyanocinctus. Six adult sea snakes were collected from Minab beaches, located near the sea of Oman, in November, euthanized with chloroform, dissected and alimentary canal removed, tissues preparaed for sectioning and staining with Hematoxylin ...

The comparison of continuous and intermittent training impact on glucose-4 transporter protein level and insulin sensitivity in diabetic rats

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is now seen as a worldwide epidemic disease with high prevalence. Exercise training (ET) is known to promote beneficial changes in diabetic patients. The aim of this study was to compare the impact of continuous and intermittent aerobic training on glucose-4 transporter protein (GLUT-4) levels and insulin sensitivity in diabetic rats. Materials and meth...

Effects of Dietary Conjugated Linoleic Acid and n-3 Fatty Acids on the Performance, Carcass Traits and Small Intestinal Morphology of Broiler Chickens

An experiment was conducted on broiler chickens to study the effects of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), fish oil, both at 7% of the diet, or their mixtures at 3.5% of the diet, on the performance, carcass traits and intestinal morphology of broiler chickens. The chicks fed with 7% fish oil or 7% CLA diets, were found to have an inferior weight gain in grower and finisher phases, respectively. A...

Histomorphometrical Study of the Prebiotic Effects on Intestine Morphology and Growth Performance of Broiler Chickens

This experiment was conducted to compare the effects of prebiotic as alternative feed additive to an antibiotic growth promoter (bacitracin methylene disalicyate) on the growth performance and morphometrical parameters of the small intestine of broiler chickens. One hundred and forty four day old broiler chicks were randomly assigned to one of three dietary treatments for 6 wk and each treatmen...

Effects of diet, energy restriction and diabetes on hexose transport in the rat.

1. Effects of dietary composition, energy restriction, and diabetes on hexose absorption were examined by feeding male rats isoenergetic, semi-synthetic diets of differing carbohydrate and protein content. Diets were carbohydrate, (g/kg): 890 sucrose; carbohydrate-protien, 500 sucrose, 390 casein; or protein, 890 casein. An additional group was fed on commercial rat chow ad lib. 2. Hexose (3-O-...
